DIFFERENCES BETWEEN LLAMAS, ALPACAS, VICUÑAS AND GUANACOS.

LEARN THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE LLAMA, ALPACAS, VICUÑAS AND GUANACOS.

In Peru and especially in the Andean region there are South American camelids such as the llama, alpaca, vicuñas and guanacos although they appear to be the same, however in reality they are different, see the illustrations below.

LLAMA .
It is a camelid with longer and larger wool.

ALPACA

Its wool is more bulky, soft and long. Also the wool grows all over his head, leaving only his mouth, nose and eyes uncovered.

VICUÑA

It is smaller and thinner than the alpaca and llama and does not have much wool.

GUANACO

He does not have much wool and his whole face is gray.

Now that you recognize these differences between the llama, alpaca, vicuña and guanaco.  You will enjoy your tour through the Peruvian Andes identifying all these beautiful animals of the Peruvian Andes mountains.
